the homecoming
I look out of the window today, yet again
Waiting for him, trying to shut out the pain
Seems like All my hopes I built but in vain
As darkness grows deep and drives me insane
Whatever went wrong? Where did we fail?
I groped for answers, searched to no avail
He didn’t want to bow, I said no to surrender
Was that what blew it up, I now sit and wonder.
We wanted happy times, we so needed each other
Yet we waited to see what the other had to offer
Should’ve seen it coming, that damned goodbye.
Chose to ignore reality, weren’t fights by-the-by
Letting me see his hurt wasn’t part of his plan.
But never a good actor, no matter what, that man
It now strikes me sudden, how about me relenting?
Wasn’t my love my own?My all, everything?
Wave a white flag, that’s what we must be doing!
It’s been long on cards, a brand new beginning
I grab my keys to go, its time I set things right
And then I see his car, headlights burning bright.
A sight so good to see, I blink in disbelief
We’re back home together, I cry in relief…
